I was born in 1961 in Syracuse, New York to Eileen and Jack Chaffee a Veteran. In 1969, my family moved to Bowie where I received my education in Prince Georges County public school system. I graduated from Bowie High School in 1980, and then I proceeded to study and work at the University of Maryland in College Park Electrical and Electronics. Started a business where I learned payroll business taxes real state law engineering county permits and so much more.
In 1985, I had the pleasure of marrying my high school sweetheart, Amy Gallagher. Amy is also from Bowie, MD. We both have strong roots here in District 5. We lived in Deale for eight years before moving to Calvert County in 1992.
I am blessed with four wonderful daughters, four great son- in- laws, and six amazing grandchildren with another on the way. In my free time, I enjoy hunting, fishing and boating with my family in the waters of Southern Maryland. I am a Catholic and a member of St. John Vianney Catholic Church in Prince Frederick. I believe all Americans should have the same religious freedom that I enjoy.
As members of the community, my wife and I volunteered as coaches for Calvert County Parks and Recreation and Calvert Soccer Association for over 15 years. I was also a volunteer basketball coach for St. John Vianney. During this time, we enjoyed the privilege of meeting hundreds of parents and children throughout the community.
