My name is Chris Chaffee. I am the Republican Candidate for the US. Senate seat in the General Election. I want to thank you for your support and will continue to work hard to represent Maryland. I am a son of a veteran, husband, father, grandfather, Catholic, American and a patriot. It is time we get back to basics, family values and a good sense of community. We need to be united as a state and as a nation.
Maryland is made up of 23 beautiful counties and Baltimore City each with their own amazing amenities. From the Baltimore Harbor to Mountains of Western Maryland to Annapolis Capital to Ocean City Maryland minutes from Washington. It is a Natural Resource wonderland where we work fish in the Chesapeake and raise our families that we all enjoy. We are a state filled with farmers, waterman, small business owners, teachers, first responders, professionals and government workers. We are blessed to have such amazing collection of people in our beautiful state.
For years Maryland Republicans and Independents have been underrepresented and have not had their voices heard. We have tried it the democrat way with raising taxes and increasing our debt. We need to encourage new business and established businesses to come open in Maryland. This is the time and following the pandemic we have the opportunity. We need to give all Marylanders a chance to achieve their dreams. Maryland's freedom is dependent on your vote.
There is a lot of work that needs to be done. We cannot thrive with the insanely high costs of gas, electric, propane, shipping and food which are at an all-time high. People need to be able to save money not live paycheck to paycheck. The high rate of inflation prevents us from investing in our families and futures.
The 2 trillion-dollar Omnibus and COVID spending bills have caused the highest inflation and is about to get worse Biden and his administration spend spend tax tax policy are driving inflation up and our country into a recession. This administrations stubborn policy on American oil and gas has caused all Americans pain at the pump and in their wallets. This winter the high cost of heating oil and gas will surely cause many families to go without. The high cost of inflation and fuels will prevent Americans from spending money on extras because the necessities are breaking the bank. Another 740 billion added to our DEPT
Democrats have no plan for America and the world to fix this problem. America is getting weaker on both the Economy and Inflation. We need to ensure our strength especially of the military in this time of turmoil. We must take charge to ensure energy independence which includes drilling and refining American oil.
We need to secure our borders, defend and honor our law enforcement, follow and enforce our constitution. protect the second amendment, stop using our children as political pawns. make America energy efficient again, we need to honor and support our military because the freedoms we enjoy, are earned and paid for by our military. I will stand and work for you.
We need term limits now we need true checks and balances. We need to invest in America first. We have the ability for energy independence and are closing coal plants, closing pipelines and slowing drilling on our own soil. Electric and clean energy are important, however it isn't financially feasible for every household, farm or small business. Energy independence is for all Americans. Trump enabled us energy independence, Biden reversed every step Trump took on day one. Biden and the Democrats look to have the government running all our lives, and this needs to stop.
As your elected Senator I will address our State and Countries most pressing problems getting inflation under control by making America energy independent again. Promote higher education for every American either trade schools or college.
The opioid crisis is at its highest during this Administration The opioid crisis has ripped the hearts out of more than 90k families who have lost a loved one each year. In 2021 the death toll rose 21k over 2020 and there is a sharp rise again this year. There are far to many people who have lost their lives from this terrible epidemic. Democrats have put their entire focus on clean energy and large spending packages. If we do not vote them out then this deficit will grow even larger and the opioid overdoses and deaths will continue to rise.
Our children have lost too much of their education in the last two years. Our teachers have worked tirelessly and tried everything they could to bring them up to speed. We need resources for counseling and social workers to ease the stress and anxiety going forward from COVID We need to see children smile again and not filled with fear. Our children are counting on us to help them succeed.
Our constitution including our Second Amendment right must be upheld and protected. " A well-regulated militia, being necessary to the security of a free state, the right of the people to keep and bear Arms, shall not be infringed." Democrats will try to change the words our forefathers wrote we must never allow.
Americans are made up of a variety of nationalities, religions, race, sex and that variety makes our amazing nation awesome melting pot of culture and diversity. Our differences and variations makes us amazing and stronger together. As a nation we need to be united to thrive. We are all created equal and we need to ensure from our unborn to our elderly that we are all treated as equals. We are the United States and it is time we remember that.

7-year-old girl hit by car that went around stopped Montgomery Co. school bus, police say
The girl was taken to the hospital with injuries described as serious.
MONTGOMERY COUNTY, Md. — Editor's note: The above video is from August 2021.
A 7-year-old girl was hospitalized with serious injuries after she was hit by a car while getting off of a school bus in Montgomery County.
Montgomery County Police officers were called to the scene in the 18600 block of Walkers Choice Road in Montgomery Village for a report of a pedestrian struck by a car just before 4 p.m. on Tuesday, Aug. 30.
A preliminary investigation found that at the time a Montgomery County Public Schools bus was stopped and dropping off students. The bus had its red flashing lights activated.
According to police, the driver drove around the bus and hit the 7-year-old girl who was trying to cross the street. The girl was taken to an area hospital with serious injuries.
Police say the driver of the striking vehicle stayed on scene.
It's not clear if the driver will face any charges in the crash. In Maryland, there is a fine of $250 for illegally passing a school bus.
Last year, we spoke to a bus driver in Fairfax County who said he noticed a lot of drivers ignoring school buses.
“We get a lot of parents or a lot of people who are standing there with their kids,” said Rocha. “We’ll turn our reds on, they’ll start across and cars start flying by us, they go around us. They don’t stop fully,” Fairfax Co. bus driver Nicholas Rocha said.
“A lot of drivers out there need to realize that you need to stop for our stop signs,” said Rocha. “Otherwise, you never know — there could be a kid walking out in the front.”
